Project Description:

Located in Midtown Toronto, this project involved a comprehensive reconfiguration of a retail unit into a Montessori-inspired play and learning environment for children. The space was previously operated as an adult-oriented VR gaming centre and required a complete architectural and programmatic transformation to accommodate its new use.

Key aspects of the project included:

1. Change of Use Conversion: The existing retail unit was fully reimagined to support a child-focused educational and recreational environment, requiring a thorough reassessment of layout, circulation and functional zoning.

2. Interior Reconfiguration: The interior space was redesigned and constructed to integrate a variety of thoughtfully curated environments that support learning, exploration and play, while maintaining flexibility for different activities and age groups.

3. Child-centric Design and Safety: The project was executed with a strong emphasis on child-centric design principles, incorporating appropriate materials, finishes and spatial relationships to ensure safety, comfort and usability throughout the space.

From initial concept development through construction and final detailing, the project was carefully coordinated to deliver a welcoming, functional and engaging environment. The completed space successfully transformed a former adult-oriented commercial unit into a purpose-built Monteseri-inspired play and learning facility serving families in the Midtown Toronto community.
